As a 17 year old girl filled with curiosity and many interests, I often find myself in search of new projects to pursue: ever-pressing climate change and growing amounts of trash worldwide inspired me to begin thinking more and more about our beaches. As trash builds up with no counter force large enough to combat it, our beaches suffer more and more every day. These issues in conjunction with my love for art sparked ideas! I decided to combine the two.
Through research and beach cleanups, my ideas evolved, and I began planning and developing my pieces.
All of my beach pieces use real beach trash. I take litter and turn it into something a little less repulsive. My art communicates the pressing issues our communities face day to day. My hope is more people realize the magnitude of these problems. Banding together and taking initiative to help the Earth, we can turn things around before it's too late!
So let my pieces serve as a wake up call and an inspiration!
